In collaboration with Chartwells, Flint Community Schools is proud to announce the successful completion of a significant community meal distribution event held on December 16, 2023, at Northwestern High School campus. This initiative was part of our continuous effort to support and nourish our school families, particularly during the holiday season.
Event Highlights:
- Holiday Meals Distributed: We provided 150 meals to FCS families to spread holiday cheer. Each meal package included a turkey and essential staples, ensuring our families have a warm, festive meal at home.
- Diverse Meal Options: To further enrich the experience, families received meal kits for pizzas, assorted snacks, and boxes containing fresh produce, thanks to our partnership with Flint Fresh.
- Generous Donations: Our efforts were bolstered by the kind contributions of gift cards from McDonald's and Little Caesars.
- Special Surprise from Smoothie King: Smoothie King donated fresh smoothies in real-time, adding a delightful twist to the event.
Superintendent Kevelin Jones extends the most profound gratitude to all volunteers, including scholars from Accelerated Learning Academy who helped pack the meals and scholars from Southwestern Classical Academy who assisted in the distribution on the event day, as well Flint Board of Education member Michael Clack, Chartwells, and our amazing FCS team and their families members who came out to support FCS school community for their invaluable support. Their time and dedication played a crucial role in the success of this event.
While our resources may not extend to everyone, our commitment remains unwavering, particularly towards McKinney-Vento families in transition without a permanent home. The acquisition of a new van facilitated through a grant has significantly enhanced our ability to support these families.
We encourage the community's continued support and involvement. Your contributions can magnify our impact and help us extend our reach to more needy families.
