Flint Community Schools is excited to announce, "A Taste of Literacy," a vibrant and interactive event aimed at engaging families in fostering literacy skills among children. The event will take place on March 6, 2024, at the Flint Farmers' Market.

"We invite all parents and family members to join us in actively participating in their children's education," said Kevelin Jones, Superintendent of Flint Community Schools. "At 'A Taste of Literacy,' families will discover how they can contribute to their child's learning journey and feel welcomed as valued partners in education."

The event aims to increase knowledge levels among parents and caregivers by providing them with effective strategies and activities to implement at home. By empowering families with the tools to become reading champions, Flint Community Schools hopes to create a supportive environment for literacy development. The first 500 attendees will receive complimentary Market Bucks, and there will be raffles and free books available.

"We believe that literacy is a fundamental skill that opens doors to endless opportunities," remarked DeLynn Smith, Curriculum Development Specialist (Humanities). "Through 'A Taste of Literacy,' we aim to equip families with the resources they need to support their children's literacy journey."
